CCC Life Groups
About
Life Groups exist to make disciples by building community around God’s word.
As you see in that purpose statement, there are two key ingredients to life groups:
Build Community
Around God's Word
The early church modeled this for us in Acts 2:42-47.
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the
breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.”
Human beings are created in the image of our triune God, and as God has perfect community within the trinity, so we also are designed to live in community. When we fail to live in community, we short circuit God’s design.
There are lots of different things that we can build community around: common interests, sports teams, civic organizations etc, but Life Groups are designed to build community around the only thing that brings life—God’s Word.
- The word is the power of God unto salvation (Rom 1:16–17).
- The word is profitable for training, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16–17).
- The word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Ps 119:105).
The word is the best thing we have to offer each other in community. We encourage everyone who attends CCC to join a life group.
